Why take this course?

Mathematics: Craft 2 is an optional unit which forms part of the SQA National Certificate (NC) Group Awards in Engineering. It can also be taken as a free-standing unit.

The unit is generally intended for those wish to develop their knowledge and understanding of Maths at SCQF Level 5, with a view to supporting and underpinning their studies in an engineering discipline.

The unit is designed to develop your skills in numeracy, graphical communication, statistics, trigonometry and algebra. You’ll also learn how to apply these skills in the appropriate engineering context.

What you will experience

To achieve this unit, you must successfully complete the following outcomes:

  • Use tolerance notation, and direct and inverse proportion in engineering contexts.
  • Construct charts and graphs from given engineering data.
  • Calculate and interpret simple statistical measures in engineering contexts.
